Perth Hort: Rock Gardening at St. Paul's United Church

Mar 13

Are your ornamental gardens becoming smaller as the years pass? Or are you just beginning new gardens and don’t know what to plant in the Perth area? Or do you simply need fresh ideas for enhancing the appearance of your ornamental beds? Join the Perth & District Horticultural Society (PDHS) on March 13th to learn from a local expert how to garden with unique plants that tolerate our tough summers and winters.

Judy Wall, owner and operator of the local Rock Wall Gardens for 17 years, is an expert who trained in horticulture through Guelph University and is a Master Gardener with the Lanark County group.  She is a Past President of the prestigious Ottawa Rock Garden Society and a member of several international alpine societies.  Judy has a passion for alpines and rockeries and experimenting with unique plants.  She loves to learn how to germinate, propagate and grow unique plants in our local area, and she loves to share her knowledge with others.

Judy will include unique shrubs and small trees along with perennials for Rock Gardens in her presentation.  She will also discuss hypertufa planting as another example of a unique way to garden in a small space.

To learn more, attend the next PDHS meeting on Tuesday, March 13th  at St Paul’s United Church, 25 Gore Street West, Perth.  Please use the D’Arcy Street side entrance to access our basement meeting room; doors open at 6:30 pm and the meeting begins at 7 pm.  Membership is only $15 a year—which includes our award-winning yearbook, monthly meetings and newsletters, several garden visits during the summer months and discounts at many local nurseries.  Guests may attend meetings for a fee of $5.  All are welcome.
