Free admission; all welcome. Speaker: TBA.
The members of the Almonte & Area Artists Association reside in Almonte and the surrounding community. The mandate of the AAAA is to encourage artists of all ages to continue to grow and expand their knowledge and enjoyment of the visual arts and to provide them with a venue in which to display their creativity to the public. Members of the AAAA receive monthly newsletters, can attend monthly talks by guest speakers, and are invited to participate in Art In The Attic. New members are always welcome and have an opportunity to join at the art show. The 4As' monthly meetings are usually held on the 2nd Monday of the month (if that's a holiday, it's moved to the following week) at 7:30pm in the Almonte Public Library, 155 High St, Almonte. The format is generally a speaker invited to inform and inspire our members, followed by coffee and a short business meeting. June & December meetings are usually a potluck dinner held at the Millfall Condominiums. Their newsletter, published around the first week of the month prior to the monthly meeting, contains information on meetings, local showing galleries, calls for artists, upcoming workshops and classes, and any other art news of events and other opportunities in and around the area. It is well worth the read. They like to introduce any new members to the association by having them submit a short bio, suitable for publishing in our newsletter. Their main art show -- Art in the Attic -- is held on a weekend in late April or early May (May 9-11, 2014) at the Almonte Old Town Hall. The show is open to all members. Live music is provided by local musicians. They invite the senior art students from the Almonte & District High School to participate in the show to encourage young artists in the community. They are also planning some smaller shows and venues throughout the year. From time to time, they also organize visits to art galleries, including talks by the gallery owners. Monthly mtg.
All welcome. Speaker: TBA.
